The outage will have come as bad news to many youngsters, with recent research revealing that Britons aged 14 to 24 spend an average of 57 minutes a day watching TikTok – more than they spend watching traditional TV.

Ofcom found the age group now spend less than an hour (53 minutes) a day watching traditional TV channels, down two-thirds in ten years.

By contrast, the over-65s are still tuning in to scheduled TV for five hours and 50 minutes on average per day – slightly up on a decade earlier.
